The Coincidence of Callie And Kayden

From Goodreads: There are those who don’t get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don’t get saved.

Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over, she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to breathe.

For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves him.

Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he realizes Callie might need to be saved.

I didn't really know what this book was about when I started reading it. Which is probably best. Two people with something tragic in their past starting new in college and falling in love.
I really enjoyed this book. I hover between 3 stars, because the story was a little forgettable, and too much likeness to other troubled past books (Sea of Tranquility, Hopeless, Reason to Breathe) and 4 stars because it was equally enjoyable and I can not wait for The Redemption of Callie and Kayden to come out.
I absolutely loved the characters. Callie wasn't jealous or irrational. And Kayden was sweet, his life didn't surround around Callie. Maybe that is an upside to this story in comparison to the other 3 mentioned. But friend Luke was almost an alcoholic and I didn't like that at all. Or rather the fact that he might have a problem is never acknowledged.
This book was highly emotional, with every main character having something bad happen in their life. But not overly depressing.
It was so easy to read, I couldn't put it down and before I knew it, it was over. It was so sudden, it left a huge cliff hanger.

TTT: What I'd Like To See More

I love to escape into a good book. One that is deliciously addictive and hard to put down. I don't care how corny it is, unbelievable, over used, or predictable. If the feelings of the words draw me in and hold me tight, I am sold!

Common Tropes found in YA I can't get enough of.

1) Happily Ever Afters: There can never be too many happily ever afters. Really. My favorite characters don't have to die.
Examples include but not limited to: The Fault In Our Stars, Allegiant, Me Before You.
They could have LIVED!!!

2) Love Stories: Really, it's okay to focus the main part of your story on love. It's my favorite part to read. Falling in love over and over along with the Main Character.

3) Love Triangle: Oh the intense angst and suspense! Especially when it's a complicated messy situation.
Examples Include but not limited to: From Ashes, Unravel Me,

4) Angels: I love books about angels. They are always Bad Assed!
Examples include but are not limited to: Hush, Hush Daughter of Smoke and Bone, City of Bones.

5) Dystopian: This subcategory has taken over in a repetitive way if I have to be honest. But I always find it an interesting story line. A new world, and new world order built from scratch. There is so much room for creativity here. It feels like sci-fi, fantasy, and drama all wrapped up in one. They secretly try to subtly address major issues within our world.

6) The Female Heroine: YESSSS!!! I am all here for the strong female lead.

7) The dysfunctional Family: We've all got problems, and so many of us don't have a perfect family. Extremely relate-able making it one of my favorite.
Examples Include but not limited to: Anything by Simone Elkeles, Jessica Sorensen, Katie McGarry

8) Fairytale Retellings: I've only read Cinder. I loved the subtle way it resembled Cinderalla, and I'd love to check out more. Dorothy Must Die is on my list.

9) New Adult: This break-off of YA that hasn't quite caught up with Romance, (the fabio covered kind) Romance for the college aged, for the millenial.

Before I Fall

I”m somewhere you can’t find me
Don’t remind me
Dont bring me back to reality
I’m in my zone, Don’t mind me
Even if I’m crying, Lie to Me
I’m trying, to walk this fine line
Between living and dying

And then it all fades away
I’m just his phase today
Watching everything I do and say
Before I fall into an endless cycle of grey
I’m so lost and so afraid
Tripping over every step along the way
And I begged him. I begged him to stay
And I looked to God, They told me to Pray
And Maybe. Maybe that wasn’t enough
Maybe I’m digging and I can’t find up

And the direction is plaguing
Maybe I need saving
And through the dark
Through the grey
Through blinding light
I can see a way
Through the haze
The bliss and the pain
The shame

And again I’m falling
But my feet refuse to touch the ground
I refuse to come down
I’m being carried, not buried
Not dragged around
I’m being pushed I’m being pulled
I’m screaming with no sound

I’m failing

I see her, who I want to be
I saw her dreams
Her destiny
But she left me
She went where no one can see
What’s left of me
Keeps getting the best of me
Weighing on me heavily

And I’m hiding
Where no one can find me
When can I be my kind of me?
His love binds me, blinds me
Ruins me and finds me
And I’m shying, and crying and flying
And
Don’t mind me

They say I’m too sensitive
And too small
I’m too blunt
With too big of balls,
I’m misunderstood, Thats what it’s called
Well Fuck it all,
Im all tall,
I’m wild I’m free
I fall

Just the lies we tell them all
The lies we accept
The lies we expect
The truth left neglected
Festered and infected
Grew bigger when we left it
No more helping it

Until I can’t remember it
I’m no longer feeling it
I don’t want to deal with it
Put a book in front of my face
Because I don’t want to hear it
When the same old blow is still deliviring
My soul is still trembling
I can no longer tell what’s real
What I see, what I hear
How I feel
And I’m falling
Or flying
And I just want to chill
Find the divine light and the power to heal

And I give in
To the creativity within
My fingers touch the pen

Now, Let’s begin

Ten Tiny Breaths

Ten Tiny Breaths

From Goodreads: Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

What I Thought

Let me just start by saying I am immediately going to add K. A. Tucker's "One Tiny Lie" to my anxiously awaiting coming soon book list because I LOVED IT!!!

This book was crazy good.
I was on an emotional roller coaster.  I laughed out loud and loved kacey.

"I should stalk  over there and pee around his table to stake my claim".

Trent was incredibly sweet. Kacey kept referring to him as a bad boy but I never saw it.
Kacey had some serious issues.  But what I loved is trent had  more issues.

There were truly in an impossible situation.  I could honestly relate to both situations.
They weren't being dramatic in not being together.

Once all the secrets were revealed I was seriously questioning myself on rather or not a relationship between them is healthy???

side note: I never did understand her mother's advice of ten tiny breaths instead of huge breaths.

"seize them feel them love them"

**Major Spoilers Ahead**
but please skip ahead and leave a comment.

For one Storm was just perfect wasn't she.  nice.  wonderful mother.  instant best friend.
a big breasts smart and talented super barbie. Huge eye roll.

I hate that kacey just had a instant family of friends. It was too instantaneous. If she was this good at making friends, she would have had some left over from her Michigan
days.  It was too perfect for her to be described a bitch so often. Or anti social. I'm just
saying.

But I loved trent. The level of guilt he was carrying around. And the issues he had as a result of that. I personally feel he trumped her hand issues and problem with shutting people out.  He was obsessive and a literal stalker not like the cute sweet stuff.  Like 2 years of following her from a distance before approaching.  That's scary.

I mean he only loved her because of this crazy obsession right?
I mean I did not love this story any less because of his stalker past. But had he not gone out of his way to seek her out and just moved on with his life he wouldn't have feel in love with her in the first place. And honestly her love for him was result of his crazy Obsession.  He knew to be patient about her hands and that she needed to heal.

I didn't really pay Livie much attention. She was insignificant.  I mean I loved the love and honesty between the sisters but she did nothing to add to the story or move it along.  But I will be reading "One Tiny Lie" because it sounds really interesting.  I love follow ups about secondary characters.  for example Perfect chemistry/ Rules of Attraction/ Chain Reaction. The Vincent boys/ The Vincent Brothers.

The Edge of Never

From Goodreads: Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett thought she knew exactly where her life was going. But after a wild night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she shocks everyone-including herself-when she decides to leave the only life she's ever known and set out on her own. Grabbing her purse and her cell phone, Camryn boards a Greyhound bus ready to find herself. Instead, she finds Andrew Parrish.

Sexy and exciting, Andrew lives life like there is no tomorrow. He persuades Camryn to do things she never thought she would and shows her how to give in to her deepest, most forbidden desires. Soon he becomes the center of her daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But there is more to Andrew than Camryn realizes. Will his secret push them inseparably together-or destroy them forever?

What I Thought

This is one of the best romance books I've read.

I was truly surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. I had low expectations of a book of a road trip romance. It seemed too sudden and temporary.

But the love between Camryn and Andrew grew throughout the book, it wasn't instant.

I loved the dual points of view, even though it sort of seemed like an afterthought.

Their interactions were funny, easy going, and very enjoyable to read.

Camryn was an interesting character, one worth getting to know and love.

Andrew was sweet and nice, and just wonderful. He wasn't arrogant, or possessive. He was just amazing. He makes girls all over the world want to start riding cross country buses in hopes of meeting and falling in love with a guy like him.

I will admit, I thought it was going to be a bit more dark and dirty from the description on goodreads. "He persuades Camryn to do things she never thought she would and shows her how to give in to her deepest, most forbidden desires."

I was totally sucked into this life they created on the road. I was completely sucked in, I could not and would not put this book down.
It was so emotional!!!

And when it was time to go home I was screaming "NOOO Find some way to stay together"

At the end I literally cried, and I don't do that for most books.

I am counting down the days until the follow up is released. "The Edge of Always"

How about the Top Ten Covers of books I can't wait to buy!

Thirteen Reasons Why is strictly on my list because of the hype surrounding this show. I initially avoided it because it sounded sad. I rarely intentionally read sad books. But now I'm interested in what everyone is talking about.

I've actually read Everything, Everything but I gave it to a friend and now I seriously want my own copy! It was such an awesome read. And definitely the type of book I'd plop down to reread a chapter or two here and there.

I anticipate taking time out this summer to finish the entire series. I just know, I need to make the time.

The Hate U Give sounds compelling and intriguing. I don't usually step out of my comfort zone of YA and Romance, but this sounds like a winner.

Reading the synopsis on this book, and it was just too cute!

I was thoroughly impressed with Everything, Everything so I can't wait to check out The Sun Is Also A Star

I loved Laini Taylor's Dreams of Gods and Monsters, so I want to check out Strange The Dreamer

I've heard nothing but ravings and good things about this book! I swear. My expectations are so high. The next time I purchase a book, this one will be it.

After Divergent I am dying to know what else Veronica Roth will come up with!

This Cover!, this Author! Every Positive Review! Really, I'm just super late on this one.
