Happy Mothers Day:

So I've actually been going over this all week. I wanted to make a list of Best Book Moms but man was that hard! Moms in YA novels are either awful villains (stone cold touch) irrelevant (Hush, Hush) or already passed. And I personally resonated with the characters who lost their mother the most. I lost my mother when I was 16. So to honor the mothers that aren't here but still loved and appreciated I made a list of

the Bookish Moms That Passed We Still Love 

Fire- Fire never got to meet her mother, but she'd heard rumors. Later in the story she gets to meet her grandmother, who tells her more about her mother and it's beautiful. 

Winners Curse- Katsa barely remembers the mother she once had, but she hold on to her love of music for her mother. And she knew her mother loved her. 

Legend- June looked up to her parents a great deal and wanted to follow in their footsteps. The love of her family was clear throughout the story. 

Breakable- An excellent story of how losing someone can truly change you forever. 

Delirium- Lena held on to the love her mother had throughout the story and to the end, allowing her to think for herself and allow love into her heart. 

Harry Potter- The love and sacrifice Harry's mother made saved his life and made him the chosen one. 

My First Giveaway

I am happy to announce my very first giveaway

I created a blog a few years ago named WormReview. I loved it and a lot of personal things happened and I completely lost the passion for it. Not that I knew too much of blogging anyway. I sort of threw up a page with posts and a few pictures.

My second go around, I've done a tone more research.

ReadWriteLove28 had some great advice on the Basics of Blogging that I really appreciated. I still have so much to learn. I haven't even participated in a blog tour yet!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE GENRES IN BOOKS?

My favorite Genres are Young Adult, New Adult and occasionally Fantasy. There are so many books to read I feel like I've read a small equal handful of each. dystopian, paranormal romance, fantasy, as well as contemporary and New Adult Romances are my favorites. I'm swept away by the sweet love story, the tone of the characters, and the way my heart always reaches out to them. I want to protect these naive and young YA characters while also laughing at their mishaps and cheering them through facing their fears. 

However, I've greatly enjoyed a couple of graphic novels, memoirs, and a great deal of urban fiction. So I like to consider myself generally open to any genre. I've just gotten sucked into YA. 

The bottom line is, Please have a super good love story in there somewhere. Not as an after thought, or insta- love. A heart wrenching one mixed into the plot.

Week Question: Why Did You Start Your Blog

I started my blog because I wanted a place to share the books I loved. A place to talk about them and fangirl openly. I don't have many friends that like to read. And when I stumbled upon the blogging community it looked like so much fun. Only I under estimated how much work is put into a blog more than just writing some reviews. But I'm learning some new things which is fun and I am enjoying it.

10 weird questions

                 I'm going to blame it on the writer part of me. As I get older, I often find myself going into situations in which I meet new people. The reader side of me, the optimistic dreamer side of me see's this as an opportunity for new friends. But "polite talk" annoys the crap out of me. When I find myself in another conversation about the weather I internally roll my eyes. Which made me realize how crazy I truly am. I'd rather spend my time focusing on fantasy and happily ever after love stories than think about the road bumps in my own life. I'd rather write in a journal than actually discuss my problems. I'd rather listen to you talk than talk about myself. But I want to know all about you, because human behavior interest me. I find myself wanting to grill strangers and play 21 questions with them. I'm curious as to the mistakes they've made. It makes them feel more personable to understand what's important to them. I love seeing the similarities and the differences in the people I've met. I love that everyone has a story.

I've compiled a list, 10 weird questions I wish I could ask.

4. What do you enjoy doing to relax?

 A book I should have read as a child:
1. Harry Potter Series
It wasn't until I reached adulthood I realized how many of my peers had devoured and obsessed over Harry Potter. A few mentioned it here and there in a "Are you also a Potter Head?" sense. When I said No, it was time to move on to a new subject. Now that I Love the HP World, it's hard to believe I missed that growing up.




2. The Giver
My husband actually said "What, you've never read THE GIVER!!! I had to read it in school. You'll love it! Read it now" And so I read it. (he's actually the one that made me read Harry Potter eventually too.) And then years later it
gained even more fame by becoming a movie.











Coming of Age
3. Fangirl
Fangirl lived up to the hype for me. Beautifully written. Encouraging and gives that feeling of comfort. That every personal story is unique and worthy in every way. Like the Main Character, Cath







4. Blankets
Craig Thompson
is the only graphic novel author I've read but I loved this book. I laughed out loud, I cried, I yelled for him and felt like a proud parent with his growth.








5. BitterBlue
I just really enjoyed this book. It was fantasy, ya, paranormal. But it also felt like a Coming of Age novel for BitterBlue. She learned dark secrets, navigated through her first love and first heart break. She grew into the Queen she'd always been meant to be.







YA characters I'd Like to Revisit in 10 Years
6. Katniss of Hunger Games
There was so much hype and attention around this series. But I can't imagine what becomes of them 10 years later. There's been speculation, but with so much damage in their foundation, so many old scars between all the characters, what would their lives be like after 10 years. What would they change after times to analyze every action

7. June of Legend
If you remember the last chapter of this book, I am dying for the story to continue maybe just a few more chapters! Especially 10 years later. Do they marry? Have children? Ever regain his memories?

8. Lena of Delirium and
9. Juliette of Shatter Me.
Both these books felt so unfinished! it isn't even fair. What the hell happens to their lives!




Books I wished I'd Read as  a child (feels too late now)
10. The Hobbit/ Lord Of The Rings
I feel like maybe I've missed something great here. But if I can't even finish the movies, I definitely can't read these books.

11. Chronicles of Narnia
I actually really love these movies and I've heard they're good books. Maybe one day I'll read them. (Probably Not)

Why Arin was an amazing Book Boyfriend:

Arin was an amazing character. He fought for his people valiantly. He was loyal to a fault, to the point of self sacrificing. He loved Kestral so fearlessly, so fiercly. He trusted her and valued her opinion. At times he felt like an open bleeding heart. The way he wanted Kestral so fully and undoubtedly. Even when she wasn't sure she wanted him. He waited, helped her heal. He never lied or played games. 

Seriously, I see Arin as this tall quiet force, one you can't mess with or throw off course. The way he stuck to his morals above all had my respect.
